Can One Woman (Still) Make A Difference?

At a recent public forum celebrating the legacy of writer and urban thinker Jane Jacobs, panelist Roberta Brandes Gratz (herself an influential author and member of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission) cited LW’s leadership (yours truly) among examples of women who are making a real difference today. Jane Jacobs led the charge, among others, to defeat the Lower Manhattan Expressway that would have ripped the heart out of the Village and SoHo. Big shoes but, all modesty aside, LW! fills them in a way Jacobs herself might have applauded.
